How to Care for Your Infant/Children’s Teeth:
As hours seem so limited as a parent, I thought that it would be a great idea to briefly discuss how to take care of the needs of your Child’s teeth.  Some of you might be thinking “I’m lucky if I can even get a few brushes in because my kids fight me on it” and some of you might be thinking “my child loves to chew on his/her brush and embraces the tooth brushing experience.”  Regardless of what situation you face as a parent in the “brushing battle,” know you are forming your Child’s dental experience from the moment you rub their gums with a cloth or introduce a toothbrush to their teeth for the first time.  It is important for us parents to inspect on a daily basis the development of the erupting teeth as well as look for any discoloration of the teeth.  I stress this importance because with children early detection of a cavity will provide a much more positive dental experience for your infant or toddler.  The ADA recommends that children be seen for a first visit around their first birthday.  Here at our Riverside Cosmetic Dental office we gladly see children of all ages.   Our dental hygienists’ pride themselves in letting these very important patients guide their own visit to insure a pleasant experience each time.   Recommendations and techniques for conquering the “brushing battle” are also given to parents at these visits as well as fluoride supplementation.   We recommend brushing your child’s teeth 2 times a day with fluoride toothpaste (the size of a pea.)  Two visits to our Riverside Cosmetic Dental office are recommended to not only establish a healthy habit but to aid in the prevention of childhood caries.   We would be honored to establish a relationship with you and your child/children; please call our Cosmetic Dental office if you are in the Riverside, Southern California, Inland Empire, Redlands, or Corona area (951)686-3666.
