Dental Sealants and Children’s Dentistry Riverside, Inland Empire

A dental sealant is a protective coating that is placed on the biting surfaces of the molar teeth.  The biting surfaces of the teeth have many deep grooves which are food traps for many children.  These grooves and pits over time develop cavities because they are difficult for a child to reach with a toothbrush.  Dental sealants are commonly placed on children’s permanent teeth as soon as they are fully erupted in the mouth.

The enamel of primary (baby) teeth is weaker than that of permanent teeth therefore dental sealants are also placed on primary teeth if there are deep grooves present.  Our dental team is committed to lowering the risk of cavities in all patients which is why we believe that sealants are an important part of your child’s preventative care.  Offering dental sealants is just one of the many services we offer to help protect your teeth and your child’s teeth against decay.  Please call our Riverside Cosmetic Dental Office (951)686-3666 if you are interested in dental sealants for yourself or your child.
