Safely Removing Mercury Dental Fillings from our Riverside Biological Dental Office:

As more and more scientific research has been surfacing regarding the dangers of mercury amalgam fillings, I feel it is necessary to discuss our government’s position on mercury.  Currently, the IAOMT (International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology) has been increasing its pressure on the FDA  to make it known that there is no established safety level of dental amalgam mercury fillings.  The FDA has an active investigation in regards to dental amalgam mercury fillings.  The last evaluation of amalgam safety was a number of years ago which they regarded amalgam mercury fillings as safe.

As a Biological and Cosmetic Dentist, as well as, a member of the IAOMT; my position on mercury amalgam fillings is that they are toxic and should be avoided.  There are considerable amounts of mercury vapor that are released when placing and removing amalgam mercury fillings.  This mercury vapor is absorbed by the body and accumulates over time in critical organs.  At my Riverside Biological and Cosmetic dental office, we safely remove mercury amalgam fillings by placing a protective vacuum inches from the mouth when the tooth is being worked on.  This dental vacuum prevents the inhalation and ingestion of the mercury vapors which are toxic.
